2026 Carnation Festival

Pet Show

When: Friday, August 7th, 2026 at 6:00 pm
Where: Jaycee Pavilion (Hilltop pavilion across from the ball field)
You MUST pre-register by Monday, August 3rd, 2026

Please Note:

- This show is open to children 3-16 years old
- No large animals (horses, cows, etc.) are permitted
- The child should be able to handle the pet alone

Prizes:

- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded in each category
- A "Best of Show" will also be awarded
- Each entrant will receive a "Goodie Bag" for their pet
- 1st place and Best in Show winners are eligible to ride on the Coastal float in the Carnation parade the following day*

Please take note that this is a public event and photographs may be taken. The Greater Alliance Carnation Festival ("GACF") does not guarantee the subject(s) in the photographs will be contacted in the event the photos are published. Accordingly, by attending the event, you acknowledge and agree that GACF shall have the right (without limitation or compensation to you) to take, edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote, display, and otherwise use your photograph in any way it sees fit, including the right to publish your photograph online and in print. By attending the event, you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of these rules.

*Parade participation is subject to final float and parade arrangements. Additional details will be provided to winners at the show.

About Your Pet








1. Participation

I understand that Coastal Pet Products, Inc. ("Coastal") is allowing me to participate in activities associated with the Alliance Carnation Festival and the related pet show and parade, including but not limited to: - Riding on, entering, exiting, or standing on a parade float, wagon, trailer, hayride, vehicle, or other conveyance; - Walking in the parade; - Participating in a pet show or related demonstrations; - Bringing, handling, controlling, or accompanying animals; - Any related event activities before, during, or after the parade (collectively, the "Activities").

2. Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that participation in the Activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: - Falling from or while entering or exiting a moving or stationary float, wagon, hayride, trailer, or vehicle; - Slips, trips, and falls; - Contact with vehicles, equipment, animals, spectators, or other participants; - Animal bites, scratches, kicks, or other animal-related injuries; - Property damage; - Weather-related conditions, including heat, rain, wind, or uneven terrain; - Illness, serious bodily injury, disability, or death. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks, known and unknown, associated with my participation in the Activities.

3. Release and Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Ohio law, I release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue: Coastal Pet Products, Inc., the Alliance Carnation Festival, parade organizers, event sponsors, property owners, governmental entities, volunteers, contractors, employees, officers, directors, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of or related to my participation in the Activities, including claims for personal injury, illness, death, or property damage. This release applies whether arising from negligence or otherwise, except to the extent prohibited by applicable law or caused by a Released Party's willful misconduct or intentional wrongdoing.

4. Participant Responsibility for Animals

If I bring or handle an animal during the Activities, I represent and warrant that: - I am the owner of the animal or have authority to control it; - The animal is appropriately vaccinated and legally licensed, if required; - The animal is adequately trained and under my control at all times; - The animal does not present a known unreasonable risk to others. I accept full responsibility for the actions and behavior of any animal under my care during the Activities.

5. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, or attorneys' fees arising from: - My participation in the Activities; - The actions of any animal under my care or control; - My violation of event rules or instructions; or - My negligent or wrongful acts or omissions.

6. Medical Treatment

I certify that I am physically capable of participating in the Activities. I authorize emergency medical treatment if deemed necessary and understand that Coastal is not responsible for providing medical insurance or covering medical expenses. I accept responsibility for all medical costs incurred.

7. Photography, Video, and Publicity Release

I grant Coastal and its designees the irrevocable right to photograph, videotape, record, and use my name, image, likeness, voice, and statements, as well as images of any animal participating with me, for advertising, promotional, educational, social media, public relations, or other lawful purposes without compensation.

8. Compliance with Instructions

I agree to follow all instructions given by Coastal representatives, parade officials, event organizers, security personnel, and law enforcement officers. I understand that failure to comply may result in my immediate removal from the Activities.

9. Minors

Participants under eighteen (18) years of age must have this Agreement signed by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian agrees, on behalf of the minor, to all waivers, releases, indemnifications, and obligations contained in this Agreement.

10. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio. Any provision determined to be unenforceable shall be severed, and the remainder of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.

11. Acknowledgment

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I AM GIVING UP CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO FILE CERTAIN CLAIMS, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY.

Carnation Festival Parade Rules

- NO CANDY OR ANY OTHER ITEMS MAY BE THROWN BY ANYONE, items may be handed out (not thrown) by walkers along the sides of the parade route. Violators risk being removed from the parade immediately and the unit denied entry in future parades. - No rider is to be standing up. - No one is to jump off of or onto a moving parade unit. - DO NOT STOP YOUR UNIT OR UNLOAD until you are outside the parade route and safe from other participants or traffic.
